Delete your Kitchen Squirrel account

To delete your Kitchen Squirrel account and the data that goes with it:

1. If you pay for Pro, cancel it in Google Play first (Payments & subscriptions). Deleting your account doesn't stop the store charging you.
2. Email hello@kitchensquirrel.com from the address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my account".
3. We confirm the request by replying to that address.
4. Your account and data are deleted within 30 days of confirmation.

What is deleted

If others remain in your household: your email address, name, sign-in records, ratings and their notes, favourites and notification tokens. The household's recipes, plans and lists belong to the household, so they stay with the other members; things you added stay without your name. If you are the household's only Manager, make someone else Manager in the app first.

If you are the last member: the whole household as well — saved recipes and their photos, cookbooks, meal plans, shopping lists and trips, cooking history, ratings, notes, leftovers, share links, and the text we read for its saved recipes.

A Founders' purchase ends with the account and can't be moved to another one.

What is kept, and why

• Purchase records, as financial records the law requires us to keep, for at least six years.
• Our admin log's entry for the deletion, which includes your email address, kept indefinitely as a security record of what we did.
• Records of what our AI provider was used for and cost, which hold no content.
• Reports, with the copy of what was reported at the time, kept as a record of what we did. If others remain in your household, that includes reports you made and ones about something you wrote, which can show your name. If you are the last member, the reports your household made go with it; reports others made about its share links are kept.
• The text we read for a capture you didn't save, for up to about a day after the capture.
• Public source details of recipes in Discover, and anonymous totals.
• Backups, until they age out: our database provider's copies after a short period, daily copies within 40 days, monthly copies within about 13 months.
• Outside our database: the purchase record at RevenueCat (ask and we'll delete it), crash reports until they expire, email delivery logs, our own emails about reports, and our emails with you.

Removing a recipe inside the app hides it from your household but keeps it, with any photo on it, so we can bring it back if you ask, until your household is deleted. Email us if you want one erased sooner. See our privacy policy for what the app collects and why.
